Sly Beauty: A Look Back on Our First Year

Sly Beauty’s first birthday! Where do I even begin. This year has been so incredible and more than I could have ever expected! Starting a company has been no easy task, and boy have I learned a lot. And even though there have been many hard days and obstacles to overcome, It has been the best and most rewarding experience of my life.

2.5 years ago, I woke up with the idea for a cosmetics bag. I had been traveling quite a bit and could never find a good solution for my cosmetics. So the journey began. I reached out to everyone I knew in search of help and resources. I met with my designer and wow... that took some explaining. Taking an idea from my head to paper without any physical sample of what I was wanting was difficult for the both of us. But we worked together and 15 product samples later, the Ever Need was perfect!
Our next hurdle was making the decision to invest the amount of money that was needed to start Sly Beauty Cosmetics. I remember having such faith behind my product and knew that if I could get it into the hands of makeup lovers everywhere, they would see it too. But no matter what, doubt will creep in. I knew that if this didn’t work, we were going to be in a tough spot. I knew I was going to have to work my butt off in order to make this product the success I knew it could be. So we launch!! And I held my breath as a prayed that the orders would come in. And they did. One by one I watch orders come in from family, friends and strangers that wanted MY BAG. I couldn’t believe it. I cried the “ugly cry” all week. I have never been more grateful.

After the high of our launch wore off, we knew it was time to get to work. We got busy. And by “we”, I mean my girlfriend who lovingly agree to work beside me in order to lighten the load. Doing everything we knew how and trying to learn the things we didn’t, in order to grow this brand. There have been slow months, hard days, AMAZING DAYS, and any other emotion you can possibly think of since day 1. And 1 year later, I couldn’t be more proud of all we have accomplished. We have sold more products than I ever could have ever imagined, had incredible opportunities collaborating with other brands and influencers, made the greatest friends and customer base online that have always been here to support our small business, have grow from a 2 person team, to a 6 person team ( love LOVE my girls), and most of all, I had enough faith in myself to go after my dream. And that will forever be one of my proudest accomplishments!!

Thank you to every single one of you that have supported Sly Beauty Cosmetics. This company is so much more to me than just a brand.. it has helped me survive one of the hardest years of my life. It has been a way of coping, hope and excitement for me in moments that I didn’t know if I could go on. So know that you have done more for me than just purchase my products. You have brought me more joy and happiness than I could have ever asked for.

I will also be forever be grateful for my loving husband Zach that believed in me every step of the way. He has always supported and encouraged me. I wouldn’t be here without him.
